GET READY FOR THANKSGIVING
In today’s world, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the winter gift-giving season. In fact, the day after Thanksgiving is often the busiest shopping day of the year.
Watch the Herald-Leader on the days leading up to Thanksgiving Day. Chart the number of stores that have scheduled after-Thanksgiving sales and specials. Extend the activity by pretending to go on a shopping excursion the day after Thanksgiving. “Shop” for a specifi c item or items, comparing prices in the Herald-Leader. Or map out a shopping excursion by pinpointing which store to go to and how to get there.
Making a donation or volunteering to help a group is something to think about during Thanksgiving.
Some donate as a family in order to instill in their children an experience of giving. Make a list of groups you’d like to donate to or volunteer for:
